As the beginning of the holiday season is upon us, Rancho Mesa would like to express its gratitude for its relationships with clients and industry partners throughout the year.

In observance of the Thanksgiving holiday, the Rancho Mesa office will be closed Thursday, November 22-23, 2018.

Employee Spotlight: John Parker Earns CRIS Designation

John Parker, an Account Manager at Rancho Mesa Insurance Services, recently earned his Construction Risk Insurance Specialist (CRIS) designation through the International Risk Management Institute.

“The Construction Risk and Insurance Specialist (CRIS®) program is a specialized curriculum focusing on the insurance and risk management needs of construction projects and contractors,” according to IRMI.

As a member of the Rancho Mesa Construction Group, John’s training has allowed him to gain a specialized expertise in both construction insurance and risk management that will directly benefit his construction clients.

NAWIC San Diego Releases Pacific Southwest Fall Conference Video

The National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) San Diego Chapter released its 2018 Pacific Southwest Fall Conference video on Monday, November 5, 2018. The event took place at The Dana on Mission Bay in San Diego, CA and hosted nearly 100 attendees.

The video includes interviews with the Regional Director, the San Diego Chapter’s immediate Past President and attendees.

It's Triplets Day at Rancho Mesa

Tuesday, November 6, 2018 started off like any other day at Rancho Mesa. Co-workers said their morning hellos, while greeting each other with a smile.

However, it didn’t take very long for an awkward pattern to develop. Not two, but three people showed up to the office wearing the same shirt!

Kevin Howard, Sam Clayton and Casey Craig were accidental triplets for the day. We think they secretly enjoyed the extra attention.

Rancho Mesa Educates Contractors at San Diego Airport Authority's 'Meet the Primes' Event

On Wednesday, October 17th, 2018, the San Diego Airport Authority hosted a “Meet the Primes” event at The Scottish Rite Center.

The event was designed to help contractors and vendors build their “business by forming relationships between [their] business and the Airport Authority, and obtain valuable resources,” according to the San Diego Airport Authority.

Rancho Mesa’s Andy Roberts did an excellent job educating contractors and subcontractors on what it takes to get a bonding program started. He also explained the steps they can take to increase their bonding capacity with a surety company once the program is put into place.

Rancho Mesa’s Kevin Howard was busy speaking to guests about the 2019 Experience Modification Formula changes which is important for contractors to understand if they plan on bidding work for the Airport Authority.

The San Diego Airport Authority has a very strict policy regarding experience modification acceptance. Contractors or vendors who would like to conduct work for the Airport Authority must have an experience modification of 1.00 or less, to stay eligible.

With the 2019 changes creating an entirely new formula, the questions were flying and Kevin invited guests to Rancho Mesa’s November 8th webinar that will educate viewers on the 2019 changes and how they will affect California employers.

Rancho Mesa Bowls for Charity at IICF 11th Annual Tournament

Rancho Mesa’s Yvonne Gallagher, John Parker, Jeremy Hoolihan and Sam Brown participated in the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation (IICF) 11th Annual Bowling for Charity tournament on Thursday, October 4, 2018 at Kearny Mesa Bowl.

The annual event raises funds to support grants, volunteer service and leadership to local nonprofit organizations.

Rancho Mesa Participants in the 9th Annual NAWIC Golf Tournament

The National Association of Women in Construction San Diego Chapter (NAWIC) hosted its 9th Annual Golf Tournament at the Twin Oaks Golf Club on Thursday, September 27, 2018.

With nearly 40 teams participating in the tournament, the event supports Rady Children’s Hospital and NAWIC Future Construction Leaders Foundation San Diego.

Rancho Mesa was honored to take part in the event as both a sponsor and participant. The company hosted a booth on the course where players could pick up snacks and Rancho Mesa “OneofOne” golf towels.

The Rancho Mesa team (i.e., Dave Garcia, Sam Clayton, Drew Garcia and Kevin Howard) played well and ended the day with a first place win. Congratulations!

IIAB San Diego Hosts Past Presidents Luncheon

On Wednesday, September 19, 2018, the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of San Diego (IIAB) hosted its annual Past Presdients luncheon at the San Diego Yacht Club.

Rancho Mesa’s Daniel Frazee, Executive Vice President and former IIAB President (2010) attended the event along with Sam Clayton, Vice President at Rancho Mesa and current board member.

The group gathers once a year to reminisce and look through old memorabilia collected by the organization.
