Alyssa Burley: Hi! This is Alyssa Burley with Rancho Mesa’s Media Communications and Client Services Department. Thank you for listening to today’s top Rancho Mesa news brought to you by our safety and risk management network, StudioOne™. Welcome back, everyone. My guest is Lauren Stumpf, Media Communications and Client Services Specialist with Rancho Mesa. Today, we’re going to talk about new training content in the SafetyOne™ application. Lauren, welcome to the show.

Lauren Stumpf: Hi Alyssa, it’s good to be back.

AB: Now, we launched the SafetyOne™ app several months ago and we’re still adding new content to the training library every couple of weeks. What are some of the latest training content titles that we’ve added to SafetyOne™?

LS: Like you mentioned, we’ve been adding new training content for our client’s to assign to their employees. Our new online driver training courses have been quite popular.

AB: So, what driver trainings have been added?

LS: Well, we’ve added four driver courses: Distracted Driving, Driver Safety: The Basics, Driving Defensively and Driving Safety. The first three are really designed to prepare the driver, before they begin driving for their employer. The courses cover the cost of distracted driving, multi-tasking, and using technology while driving. Employees get instruction on the basics of driving safely, driving fundamentals, driving with other vehicles, driving at night, road rage, and handling an emergency. An entire course is dedicated to the fundamentals of driving defensively, dealing with distracted drivers, coping with aggressive drivers, using headlights, driving safely in bad weather, handling a blowout, and sharing the road with trucks and buses. The fourth course is designed as a refresher. While you might assign the other three courses to employees periodically, the Driving Safety course can be used to supplement the other trainings or assigned as a refresher course.

AB: Those course topics are pretty relevant for our client’s employees. And, they are considered part of a learning style called micro learning. Each course runs about 20-25 minutes, with a quiz. So, the relatively short courses packed full of information. Since they aren’t in a traditional long format, they seem to be pretty effective, because people can stay focused without experiencing fatigue. When should our clients assign these online courses to their employees?

LS: Driver training should be assigned to any employee that may drive a company vehicle, or even drive their own vehicle for work, such as driving to clients. The training should be completed before they get behind the wheel, to help prevent auto accidents. Of course, if there happens to be an auto accident, we recommend specific driver courses for the employee based on the details of the incident. We want to make sure that if a driver has developed any bad habits, that they get the training they need.

AB: Lauren, thanks for sharing some of the new training content with us. I’m sure we’ll highlight more trainings as they become available. And, if listeners are interested in learning more about the SafetyOne™ App or how they can utilize our online driver training, who should they contact?

LS: Clients should reach out to their Client Services Coordinator, or anyone at Rancho Mesa and we’ll make sure you get in touch with the right person.
