Alyssa Burley: You’re listening to Rancho Mesa’s StudioOne™ podcast, where each week we break down complex insurance and safety topics to help your business thrive.
I’m your host, Alyssa Burley, and today I’m joined by Brenda Colby, Client Technology Specialist with Rancho Mesa, and we’re going to discuss how Rancho Mesa’s SafetyOne™ platform can impact insurance expenses.
Brenda, welcome to the show.
Brenda Colby: Hi Alyssa, happy to be here.
AB: Now with costs and large claims on the rise, workplace safety is about more than just regulatory requirements, it’s an important strategy to keep employees safe and costs low. So Rancho Mesa has a variety of safety resources available for our clients, and we’ve seen measureable improvements for businesses that use these resources consistently.
So Brenda, what can you tell us about the tools that have been the most beneficial in lowering costs for our clients?
BC: Well, our SafetyOne platform is making a significant impact in our clients’ safety compliance. One way this is possible is through the use of Toolbox Talks, which are used for a company’s weekly safety meetings. Having access to our extensive library of topics, and with the ability to access these on the go through our SafetyOne Mobile App, it has changed how businesses train their employees, and these tools can improve compliance, reduce incidents, and lower expenses.
AB: Yeah that’s great. And we’ve collected some real-world data from our clients that shows how regular use of SafetyOne can make a difference. Can you break down that data for us?
BC: Yeah sure, of course. In a recent analysis of client data, Rancho Mesa found that clients who are frequent SafetyOne users see, on average, significant decreases in their X-MOD, incident frequency rate, and indemnity rate.
For clients who were shown to be active users of Toolbox Talks over a three-year period: The Average X-MOD has decreased by 14%, Average Frequency Rate has decreased by 27%, and Average Indemnity Rate has decreased by 4%. These impressive results can be attributed in-part to a consistent emphasis on workplace safety, strengthened by the tools that Rancho Mesa provides to our clients.
AB: Yeah absolutely, and those toolbox talks are an excellent resource and can be used as weekly safety trainings or to correct unsafe actions observed on a jobsite. So Rancho Mesa’s vast library of toolbox talks includes general industry trainings as well as industry-specific content for example, landscapers, tree care companies, and company drivers.
So Brenda, if listeners have questions about toolbox talks and other SafetyOne resources, what’s the best way to get in contact with you?
BC: As always, clients can contact me at bkhalil@ranchomesa.com or call me directly at (619) 486-6562.
