Alyssa Burley: Hi, this is Alyssa Burley with Rancho Mesa’s Media Communications and Client Services Department. Thank you for listening to today’s top Rancho Mesa news brought to you by our Safety and Risk Management Network, StudioOne™.

Welcome back everyone. Today, my guest is Lauren Stumpf, Media Communications and Client Services Coordinator with Rancho Mesa. Today, we’re going to talk about the Living Employee Handbook offered through the RM365 HRAdvantage™ Portal. Lauren, welcome to the show.

Lauren Stumpf: Thanks Alyssa, it’s good to be back.

AB: The RM365 HRAdvantage™ Portal is a human resources based platform Rancho Mesa provides to all of its clients.

Lauren, can you first tell our listeners a little bit about what resources are available through the portal?

LS: Of course. The HRAdvantage™ Portal provides our clients with unlimited access to live HR experts to ask any and all employment law questions. Clients can either call the hotline number or submit their question by logging into the portal. What is especially nice with this service, is whether you ask the question over the phone or via the chat box, you will be emailed the response, so you have a written copy of the HR expert’s advice.

The HRAdvantage™ Portal also provides an extensive document library, online HR compliance courses, a job description builder, a benefits document creator, and more.

AB: It sounds like the portal can be extremely helpful when dealing with tough HR issues. The Living Employee Handbook is another popular tool used among our clients. Can you tell our listeners more about what this is and how it works?

LS: Yes, this is definitely one of the most utilized and beneficial tools within the platform. The Living Employee Handbook is an online customizable handbook creator. Creating the handbook is very simple. The portal will ask you only a few basic questions, like how you refer to your employees, are they “team members” or “associates,” and the number of employees your company has and in what states. The platform will then generate a compliant handbook based on your specific state’s and federal requirements.

AB: Why is it called a living employee handbook and not just a regular employee handbook?

LS: So, it’s called the Living Employee Handbook because as policies change and new laws go into effect, the portal notifies you of these changes and gives you the revised compliant verbiage to use. All you have to do is accept the changes and the portal will automatically update them in your handbook.

AB: Are you able to edit the content of the handbook after it is generated by the portal?

LS: Absolutely. Once you save and generate your handbook, you are able to edit, reorganize, turn off optional policies that may not apply to your company, and write completely new custom policies.

It is best to keep the required state and federal policies the same, but feel free to edit the verbiage for any of the the generic optional policies to best suite your company.

AB: I can see why our clients find the Living Employee Handbook so helpful. To learn more about the portal, please visit ranchomesa.com/hradvantage. We will also put a link to that page in our episode notes.
