Alyssa Burley: You’re listening to Rancho Mesa’s StudioOne™ podcast, where each week we break down complex insurance and safety topics to help your business thrive.  I’m your host, Alyssa Burley, and I’m joined by Brenda Colby, Client Technology Specialist with Rancho Mesa, and we’re going to talk about a new feature in our RM365 HR Advantage Portal™.

Brenda, welcome to the show.

Brenda Colby: Happy to be here Alyssa.

AB: Now, a new tool has been added to our HR portal that we think will be very beneficial to businesses that operate in multiple states. The new Law Comparison Tool allows users to compare employment laws across multiple states in the U.S. and identify legal differences.

So Brenda, will you tell our listeners what this tool can do?

BC: Sure, so this new tool allows users of the HR portal to compare laws to make sure their business is in compliance across all states in which they operate. Users can compare laws from up to 10 states and 4 law categories at a time. And they can sort and filter by state as well as region across nearly all employment law topics. The results can then be exported in a Word or Excel document.

AB: Okay, so why do you think this tool is going to be beneficial for employers?

BC: So, because employment law varies depending on the state or region a company operates in, this a great tool for employers who are trying keep their handbooks and policies compliant. Non-compliance can lead to audits, fines, or lawsuits. And, having the ability to compare laws side by side can help employers make informed decisions about workplace policies as they expand or operate across state lines. This new streamlined approach reduces risk, while saving time and resources.

AB: That’s great. And how can clients access this new tool?

BC: So in the HR Portal, find the “HR Tools” dropdown menu in the Navigation bar and click the “Law Comparison Tool.” You’ll then be able to select the states and law categories you want to compare and view them side-by-side on the website, or export your comparison. And, we have detailed instructions on how to use the tool on our website, and we can link to them in the episode notes.

AB: Alright, well Brenda, if listeners have questions about accessing the HR Portal or the Law Comparison Tool, what’s the best way to get in touch with you?

BC: As always, clients can contact me at bcolby@ranchomesa.com or call me directly at (619) 486-6562.

AB: Brenda, thank you for joining me in StudioOne.

BC: Thanks for having me.
