Alyssa Burley: You’re listening to Rancho Mesa’s StudioOne™ podcast, where each week we break down complex insurance and safety topics to help your business thrive.  I’m your host, Alyssa Burley, and I’m joined by Brenda Colby, Client Technology Specialist with Rancho Mesa, and we’re going to talk about a new feature in the RM365 HRAdvantage Portal. Brenda, welcome to the show.

Brenda Colby: Thanks Alyssa, happy to be here.

AB: So, we’ve recently added a brand new feature to Rancho Mesa’s RM365 HRAdvantage portal to make legal compliance even easier for users. Brenda, will you tell our listeners about the state overview screen and how it can help their organizations?

BC: Sure, so the State Overview screen gives users a full picture of employment laws and requirements for each state. And, staying in compliance with state laws is key to an organization’s success. As many of us know, state laws can change often and even small updates can have big consequences if a business doesn’t adhere to them.

For example, in California, minimum wage changes depending on the local jurisdiction where your organization is based. The minimum wage in Malibu is different from the minimum wage in West Hollywood, despite those two cities being relatively close to each other in the same state. So the ability to view all laws and updates in one place simplifies compliance for users.

AB: I can see how that would be a really good resource for our clients, especially those who may have employees working throughout the region. Other than minimum wage, what other features are available in the State Overview screen?

BC: Well, the overview screen also includes: Compliance highlights, which are key laws specific to the state you have selected, toolkits with laws, definitions, charts, checklists, forms, and other resources that have been compiled for hiring, recruiting, and termination, recent law alerts and updates, and, a list of all state-related laws available in the HR Compliance library.

AB: Alright, that sounds like a lot of information in one place. How can users access these resources?

BC: The State Overview screen can be found under the “HR Compliance” tab in the HR portal’s navigation bar.

The user can hover over the “HR Compliance” tab and select “State Overviews.”

You will then see an interactive map of the United States. And on the left side of the screen, you can switch between a Map and a List view.

And then, select the state.

AB: Okay. That seems easy enough. Brenda, if listeners have questions about accessing our HR portal for state-specific compliance resources, what’s the best way to get in touch with you?

BC: As always, clients can contact me at bcolby@ranchomesa.com or call me directly at (619) 486-6562.

AB: Brenda, thank you for joining me in StudioOne.

BC: Thanks for having me.
